Fiji Tourism Industry Poised to Surpass 2023 Visitor Records

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism Viliame Gavoka announced that Fiji’s tourism industry is set to welcome over one million visitors, surpassing the record levels of 2023. Speaking at the 2024 Fiji Investment in Tourism Summit, Gavoka highlighted that Fiji’s economy has returned to its pre-pandemic level and is performing well.

“In 2023, the industry broke visitor arrival records with 929,740 visitors, contributing an estimated $3.2 billion to the Fijian economy,” Gavoka stated. He emphasized that tourism continues to be the driving force behind the country’s economic growth and presents significant opportunities.

Gavoka also outlined the Government’s plans to attract investors by offering real value for their investments. This includes extending the Short Life Investment Package tax holiday to investors who purchase existing hotels and invest over $50 million in renovations and refurbishments.

Additionally, the Government has increased its marketing budget through Tourism Fiji and will continue implementing strategic reforms to facilitate easier investment in Fiji and enhance the Fijian brand.
