Brent Hill has announced his resignation as CEO of Tourism Fiji after four impactful years, effective at the end of August 2023. During his tenure, Hill played a significant role in revitalizing Fiji’s tourism sector in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. His leadership is credited with guiding the organization through a transformative period, where record-breaking visitor arrivals were achieved, exceeding one million post-pandemic.

Hill was a staunch advocate for Fijian culture and sustainability, championing initiatives that fostered inclusivity and provided opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and local artisans. His efforts were evident through the successful launch of campaigns such as “Where Happiness Comes Naturally,” which effectively showcased the beauty and essence of Fiji to global visitors.

The Fijian government has expressed deep gratitude for Hill’s contributions, highlighting his part in elevating Fiji’s image on the world stage. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, noted Hill’s impactful role in transforming the tourism landscape and fostering growth in sustainable tourism practices.

Looking ahead, Tourism Fiji has not yet appointed a successor, but the organization is optimistic about the future. It underscores the potential for new leadership to build upon the solid foundation established by Hill, further enhancing Fiji’s position as a premier travel destination in the global tourism market. The ongoing focus on sustainability and community engagement suggests a bright future for the sector, with many hoping for continued growth and innovation under new management.

This transition reflects the resilience of Fiji’s tourism industry and its ability to adapt and thrive in an evolving landscape, which is encouraging for both current stakeholders and future visitors. With strategic initiatives in place, Fiji’s tourism sector is poised for a promising future.
