Fiji is set to host the 11th European Union–Pacific Interim Economic Partnership Agreement (IEPA) Trade Committee Meeting from January 26 to 30, 2026, in Suva, where it will fulfill its role as Pacific Co-Chair. This week-long event will gather senior officials from the European Union, Pacific IEPA States, observer countries, and various regional institutions to enhance trade cooperation and bolster economic integration in the region.
The Trade Committee Meeting, a focal point of the program, will take place on January 29 and 30, and will include representatives from the European Union, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Samoa, and several observer nations such as the Cook Islands, Timor-Leste, and Vanuatu. Delegates will evaluate the progress made under the IEPA, deliberate on key technical and policy matters, and establish future steps to ensure effective implementation.
Alongside the main meeting, the agenda will include bilateral discussions between the European Union and Pacific Island countries, a Pacific Caucus meeting, and a Global Sourcing Workshop that will involve representatives from the Pacific fisheries sector. These engagements aim to enhance dialogue, identify and address challenges in implementation, and discover new pathways for improving market access and trade facilitation for Pacific exporters.
As the Pacific Co-Chair, Fiji is eager to foster productive discussions that will strengthen collaboration with European partners and promote sustainable economic development across the region, reflecting a commitment to creating inclusive opportunities for growth in the Pacific Islands.
