Fiji to Host Inaugural Rubik’s Cube Nationals in Nadi (WCA-Sanctioned)

Fiji is set to make history this Sunday by hosting the inaugural Fiji Nationals 2025 Rubik’s Cube competition at the Tokatoka Resort in Nadi. This event is officially sanctioned by the World Cube Association (WCA) and marks a significant milestone for the country’s speed cubing community. Local coordinator Vincent Huang shared that the event will attract both local and international competitors, with a large number of participants hailing from New Zealand.

Huang emphasized the unique nature of this championship, stating, “This marks the first time Fiji has hosted a national championship for speed cubing, offering a brilliant human-interest story.” Not only will competitors from around the globe attend, but the competition will also crown Fiji’s first National Champion in the 3x3x3 Cube event. Huang described the event as a celebration of “mental dexterity, focus, and community,” and noted that many of the participants are young enthusiasts eager to showcase their skills.

With 40 competitors confirmed, the one-day event will feature various categories, including the 3x3x3 cube, 4x4x4 cube, Skewb, 2x2x2 cube, and pyraminx. This competition not only highlights the growing interest in speed cubing in Fiji, but also fosters a sense of community and inspires the next generation of cubers in the region.

As Fiji embraces this exciting event, it mirrors the positive momentum seen in other sports disciplines within the nation, such as darts and football, where local athletes are increasingly participating in international competitions. This Rubik’s Cube event is a promising opportunity for Fiji to further establish its place in the global sporting community, showing that with dedication and passion, the potential for success is boundless.
