Fiji is set to host the Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting (CLMM) from February 9 to 12, 2026. This significant event will bring together law ministers and attorneys general from the 56 member countries of the Commonwealth to enhance legal cooperation and promote access to justice.

Under the theme “Anchoring Justice in a Changing Tide: Strengthening the Rule of Law for a Resilient Future,” the meeting will be organized by the Government of the Republic of Fiji and chaired by the Office of the Attorney General. As one of the largest international gatherings dedicated to legal cooperation in the Commonwealth, the CLMM provides a vital platform for ministers to evaluate the progress made in improving access to justice. Participants will also discuss how to tackle the barriers that hinder individuals from fulfilling their legal needs.

A wide array of priority issues will be addressed during the discussions, including the integration of technology in justice delivery, the development of model contracts for natural resource governance, and the utilization of legal reform tools to strengthen protections for fundamental rights.

The outcomes of the CLMM are anticipated to inform the Commonwealth Secretariat’s ongoing efforts under the Declaration on Access to Justice, while also shaping the agenda for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) scheduled to take place in Antigua and Barbuda. The upcoming meeting promises to be a crucial step towards fostering a resilient legal framework across Commonwealth nations.
