Former Fiji national football coach Rob Sherman is gearing up for a competitive showdown as his team, South Island United, prepares to face Bula FC in today’s OFC Pro League match. This encounter is particularly notable as several players from Bula FC have previously played under Sherman during his tenure with the Fiji national team.

Despite the personal connections with Bula FC, Sherman emphasizes that the priority is on performance. He acknowledges the match’s significance, describing it as a unique occasion that necessitates respect through hard work on the field. “It’s quite a unique one in the sense that I have a real good affinity with Fiji and the Fijian lads. The boys who were in the national team are great lads, so it’ll be interesting. It’s always a nice opportunity to play against them, and we’ll give our very best,” Sherman stated.

He further remarked that his familiarity with the Bula FC squad won’t soften South Island United’s competitive edge, as both teams aim to establish themselves in the early stages of the OFC Pro League. “I know most of the lads in the team, except the newcomers perhaps. We’re looking forward to getting on the pitch and hopefully having a good challenge,” he added.

The excitement continues in Round 1 of the OFC Pro League with South Island United and Bula FC poised to assert their presence in Oceania’s newest professional football competition. Fans can catch all the matches live on FBC 2, promising an exciting experience for football enthusiasts across the region.
