Seventeen-year-old Manasa Waisilagi is nurturing dreams of supporting his family through football, a sport that has become a pathway to his future. Since making his debut for Fiji at the tender age of 15, Waisilagi’s aspirations have bloss, fueled by the belief that he can achieve his goals.

For Waisilagi, football is more than just a game; it is a means to secure a better life for his loved ones. The recent launch of Fiji’s first professional football club by the Fiji Football Association has intensified his hopes, making a career in football feel more attainable than ever before.

Raised in Ba, Waisilagi has been inspired by the experiences of some of Fiji’s top footballers, including Roy Krishna and Thomas Dunn. Training alongside these renowned players has only deepened his commitment to the sport. “Seeing players from Fiji like Roy earning a lot of money playing at the international level has only motivated me more. I want to reach that stage so one day I can support my family,” Waisilagi shared, highlighting his aspirations to follow in their footsteps.

His journey includes being part of the Fiji Under-17 squad that participated in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year. This experience opened his eyes to the vast possibilities that lie ahead for young Fijian athletes and ignited a fire in him to strive for greatness.

As Waisilagi progresses in his football career, he embodies the hope and determination of many young dreamers in Fiji, proving that through dedication and hard work, possibilities are endless.
