Datec (Fiji) Pte Limited has launched the Fiji Tech Summit 2026, marking its fifth consecutive year as a pivotal regional technology platform focused on enhancing digital collaboration and resilience throughout Fiji and the wider Pacific region. The announcement was made at Datec’s head office in Garden City, Suva, where the summit’s theme, “Bringing the Pacific Together,” was introduced.
At the launch event, Ronald Sharma, Datec’s Head of ICT and Innovation and the Summit Lead, emphasized the significance of the summit in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape. He highlighted the challenges organizations face due to swift technological advancements and increasing global constraints.
Sharma remarked, “As Fiji Tech Summit enters its fifth year, our focus is on building collective digital resilience across the Pacific. While artificial intelligence is accelerating innovation, it is also placing pressure on global technology supply, infrastructure capacity, and skills availability.” He noted that the demand for AI-driven advanced infrastructure and specialized hardware is resulting in longer lead times and increasing costs in Pacific markets, necessitating greater regional cooperation and strategic planning.
The summit will put special emphasis on cybersecurity, particularly given the rising AI-enabled threats that pose significant risks to both organizations and economies. Topics such as responsible AI adoption, governance, ethics, data protection, workforce readiness, and emerging technologies like robotics and automation are set to be key discussion points.
Mr. Sharma stated, “Cybersecurity is no longer just a technical issue. It is a leadership and resilience issue that involves people, processes, and preparedness.”
The Fiji Tech Summit 2026 is scheduled for November 12-13, 2026, at the InterContinental Resort and Spa Natadola, and it aims to gather over 350 delegates along with 25 global technology vendors from Fiji and the Pacific region. This event not only showcases the commitment to technology advancement in Fiji but also fosters a spirit of unity among Pacific nations in facing common challenges and leveraging opportunities in the tech landscape.
