James Krishna, the treasurer of Golf Fiji, noted the return of the Labasa Golf Club after a five-year hiatus as a positive sign of the sport’s growth in the country. He reaffirmed Golf Fiji’s commitment to supporting clubs and ensuring the continuity and prosperity of the championship.
Golf clubs will be well represented at the event, with Lautoka Golf Club captained by Krishna himself, and Denarau/Natadola seeing Shakil Pillay at the helm. Experienced golfers Rohit Chandra and Asish Chand will lead Ba Golf Club’s efforts to reclaim the top prize.
Last year, Golf Fiji successfully revived the Fiji Teams Championship, which saw 72 players participate under the auspices of Lautoka Golf Club. This year, sponsorship from Naviti Resort, Paradise Lighting, and Tappoo Group emphasizes a united effort in promoting golfing excellence and community spirit in Fiji.
