Fiji Takes Flight: $160M Investment Set to Transform Aviation Training

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has stated that the $160 million investment in new flight simulators underscores Fiji Airways’ confidence in the future. At the launch of two advanced flight simulators, the Prime Minister remarked that this initiative reflects a broader commitment to bolstering Fiji’s status as an aviation training hub in the Asia Pacific region.

Rabuka noted that the new facility is expected to attract trainees and pilots from Fiji and around the globe, further solidifying Fiji’s reputation as a center of excellence. He emphasized that Fiji Airways currently brings in 65-70 percent of all visitors to the country and has a larger marketing budget than any other organization promoting travel and tourism to Fiji.

The Prime Minister pointed out that enhanced training capabilities at the Aviation Academy will help uphold the highest standards of safety and service, which are essential for improving the travel experience for visitors. He emphasized that these investments align with the Government’s broader vision for sustainable development.

Rabuka also highlighted that Fiji Airways is not only a leader in the aviation sector but also a trailblazer in environmental stewardship. He remarked, “This facility serves as a catalyst for economic activity, benefiting local businesses and contributing to the overall prosperity of our nation.”

He reiterated that Fiji remains a prime destination for both foreign and domestic investments, and the significant investments made by Fiji Airways in high-tech infrastructure reinforce the country’s robust investment climate, particularly in the aviation sector.
