Fiji will participate in the inaugural Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children, taking place in Bogota, Colombia this month. Representing Fiji will be Lynda Tabuya, the Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, who will be joined by Child Advisor Natalie Siegel-Brown and Director for Children Arieta Tagivetaua.
During the conference, Minister Tabuya will share the Fijian Government’s commitment to eradicating violence against children. This gathering aims to significantly advance efforts to end violence against children and to encourage investments in comprehensive child protection and violence prevention systems.
The outcomes of this conference are expected to further the commitments to tackle violence against children as detailed in Fiji’s National Development Plan for 2025-2029, reinforcing the nation’s dedication to fostering a safer environment for children.
This initiative reflects a global recognition of the importance of protecting vulnerable populations and emphasizes the collaborative effort needed to effectively address and prevent violence against children. Fiji’s participation in this conference is a hopeful step toward creating a brighter future for its young citizens.
