Parliament has approved the Anti-Doping Bill, designed to promote drug-free sports in Fiji and align with the anti-doping protocols established under the UNESCO International Convention.
Minister for Sports, Jese Saukuru, remarked during the parliamentary session that this significant legislation is intended to uphold the integrity of sports in the country.
Initially introduced in May of this year, the Anti-Doping Bill reflects the government’s ongoing dedication to ensuring fair competition, athlete welfare, and clean sporting practices.
Saukuru emphasized that the focus of the Bill extends beyond detection and enforcement to include prevention and education, aiming to cultivate a culture of integrity in sports.
This legislation is fundamental to preserving the essence of sports, enhancing the health of athletes, and ensuring that Fiji engages in the global sporting community with the highest ethical standards.
