The Fijian Cabinet has officially sanctioned the creation of a Drug Rehabilitation Centre as part of the Fiji Corrections Service (FCS). This significant decision was made during the cabinet’s first meeting of the year, which took place in Suva.

The newly approved centre aims to provide essential interventions for incarcerated drug offenders, offering them a chance to reform and successfully reintegrate into society. The rehabilitation programs implemented at the center will adhere to the standards established by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, ensuring that they are effective and beneficial for those in need.

This initiative reflects a progressive approach towards addressing addiction and supporting rehabilitation, focusing on transforming lives and reducing recidivism. By facilitating recovery and providing resources for reintegration, the Drug Rehabilitation Centre represents a hopeful step forward in fostering a healthier and more constructive community.
