Parliament has approved the Anti-Doping Bill aimed at promoting drug-free sports in Fiji and aligning with anti-doping protocols outlined in the UNESCO International Convention.

During the parliamentary session, the Minister for Sports, Jese Saukuru, emphasized the importance of this legislation in preserving the integrity of sports within the country.

The Anti-Doping Bill was initially presented in May of this year.

Saukuru stated that the bill reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to ensure fair competition and the well-being of athletes. He noted that the legislation not only addresses detection and enforcement but also prioritizes prevention and education to cultivate a culture of clean sports.

This Anti-Doping Bill is designed to protect the essence of sports, promote athlete health, and ensure that Fiji maintains its participation in the global sports arena upholding the highest ethical standards.
