Fiji is set to participate in the inaugural Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children, which will take place in Bogota, Colombia, later this month. The Fiji delegation includes Lynda Tabuya, the Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, alongside Child Advisor Natalie Siegel-Brown and Director for Children Arieta Tagivetaua.
Minister Tabuya is poised to present the government’s commitment to combat violence against children during the conference. This event serves as a vital platform to enhance efforts in ending violence against children worldwide, aiming to foster stronger and more cohesive child protection and violence prevention systems.
The anticipated outcomes of the conference are expected to reinforce commitments towards addressing violence against children, in line with Fiji’s National Development Plan for 2025-2029. This proactive approach underscores Fiji’s dedication to safeguarding children and ensuring their rights are respected.
In a time when global awareness of children’s rights and protection is increasingly critical, Fiji’s involvement in this conference demonstrates a positive commitment to international standards and collaboration. The conference is a significant opportunity not only for Fiji but also for participating nations to share insights and strengthen initiatives against violence towards children.
