Parliament has approved the Anti-Doping Bill, a measure aimed at promoting drug-free sports in Fiji and aligning anti-doping practices with the UNESCO International Convention.
During the parliamentary session, Minister for Sports, Jese Saukuru, emphasized that this crucial legislation aims to protect the integrity of sports within the country.
Introduced in May of this year, the Anti-Doping Bill reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring fair competition, athlete welfare, and a level playing field.
Saukuru noted that the bill emphasizes not only detection and enforcement of doping violations but also prioritizes prevention and education to cultivate a culture of clean sports.
The Anti-Doping Bill is designed to uphold the spirit of athletics, enhance the health of athletes, and ensure that Fiji competes in the global sporting community with the highest ethical standards.
