Parliament has approved the Anti-Doping Bill, aimed at establishing drug-free sports in Fiji and adhering to the anti-doping standards set by the UNESCO International Convention.
During the parliamentary session, Minister for Sports, Jese Saukuru, emphasized that this important measure is intended to protect the integrity of sports in the country.
The Anti-Doping Bill was initially introduced in May of this year.
Minister Saukuru stated that the bill reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to ensure fair competition and the well-being of athletes.
He further explained that the focus of the bill extends beyond detection and enforcement; it also emphasizes prevention and education to nurture a culture of clean sports.
The Anti-Doping Bill aims to uphold the spirit of sports, promote athlete health, and ensure that Fiji upholds the highest ethical standards while participating in the global sports arena.
