Fiji Takes a Giant Leap in Diplomacy with New Honorary Consul Appointment

Rokoseru Nabalarua has officially been appointed as the Honorary Consul of the State of Israel to the Republic of Fiji. The chair of Energy Fiji Limited received his certificate of appointment from H.E. Roi Rosenblit, Israel’s Ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific, in a ceremony held yesterday in the presence of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

This appointment is seen as a significant advancement in the diplomatic relations between Fiji and Israel, which have already been bolstered by Fiji’s commitment to establish an embassy in Jerusalem. This development reflects a historic step in Fiji’s international relations, which have been in place since 1970, focusing on several key areas such as security, agriculture, education, and climate change.

Ambassador Rosenblit congratulated Nabalarua on his new role, expressing confidence in his ability to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance collaborative efforts between the two nations. In response, Nabalarua expressed his gratitude and affirmed his dedication to fulfilling his responsibilities efficiently.

As Fiji continues to navigate its diplomatic landscape, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence will work together to assess necessary steps for the establishment of the embassy in Jerusalem, following a Cabinet decision on the matter. The relationship between the two nations, particularly through initiatives like the embassy’s opening, assures a hopeful future for both countries, aiming for strategic partnerships to tackle shared challenges.

This evolving partnership between Fiji and Israel highlights a proactive diplomatic approach, showcasing both countries’ commitment to working collaboratively toward mutual benefits in various sectors, ultimately fostering a positive outlook for their relationship.
