Fiji Swimming Meet Delayed Again: What Happened?

The Fiji Swimming Short Course Open National, which was scheduled for this weekend, has been postponed to the following weekend. This delay is due to a water cut that was planned for areas in Suva, affecting the event’s execution. Trisa Cheer, an executive with Fiji Swimming, confirmed the rescheduling and expressed disappointment over the situation.

Cheer noted that the initial change to next weekend was made to accommodate the water cut; however, a late notification from the Fiji Sports Council on Thursday night indicated that the water cut would now occur next weekend instead.

She stated, “First, the water cut was scheduled for this weekend, so Fiji Sports Council informed us to postpone the event to next weekend. Then, just Thursday night, we received another call from FSC saying that the water cut is next weekend, but we had already canceled with all our clubs, including overseas officials.”

As a result, the swimming meet will now take place the following weekend, and officials will need to rearrange their flight schedules accordingly.
