A 37-year-old self-employed man from Suva has been charged with one count of Unlawful Importation of Illicit Drugs. This event is connected to a case where two police officers were previously charged. The charge against the individual was sanctioned by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) as the investigation continues. The accused is set to appear in custody at the Suva Magistrate Court today.

This development is part of a broader pattern of law enforcement activities aimed at combating drug-related offenses in Fiji. Recently, several operations have been carried out, including one on April 21, 2025, involving multiple police units such as the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department and the Fiji Detector Dog Unit. These efforts have led to numerous arrests for possession of illicit drugs and related charges.

The ongoing commitment of law enforcement agencies highlights their determination to tackle drug abuse and trafficking, aiming to foster a safer environment for the community. As the legal processes unfold, they underscore the importance of vigilance and collaboration in addressing organized crime and promoting public safety in the region.
