Fiji Strengthens Ties with UAE: Meet the New Ambassador!

Siddiq Faizal Riyad Koya has been officially appointed as Fiji’s Ambassador Designate to the United Arab Emirates. The commissioning ceremony was presided over by His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, the President of the Republic of Fiji, who congratulated Koya on his new role and wished him success in his diplomatic endeavors.

This appointment is expected to enhance bilateral cooperation between Fiji and the UAE, allowing both nations to capitalize on new opportunities. Ambassador Koya expressed gratitude to the Fijian government for entrusting him with this significant responsibility.

Before his diplomatic role, Koya was a Barrister and Solicitor and served as the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Biosecurity Fiji. He holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honors and a Diploma in Higher Education in Law from the University of Wolverhampton, which he completed in 1993. Additionally, he earned a Certificate in Legal Practice from the University of Tasmania in 1995.

Koya was admitted to the High Court of Fiji in 1999, where he has presided over various cases, including criminal trials, civil litigation, domestic violence issues, and family law proceedings. The commissioning ceremony was also attended by the Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lenora Qereqeretabua, and the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala.
