Fiji Strengthens Ties with New UAE Ambassador

Siddiq Faizal Riyad Koya has been officially appointed as Fiji’s Ambassador Designate to the United Arab Emirates. The commissioning ceremony was presided over by the President of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, who congratulated Ambassador Koya on his new role and wished him success in his diplomatic endeavors.

This appointment is expected to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Fiji and the UAE. Ambassador Koya expressed his gratitude to the government of Fiji for their trust in his capabilities to assume this diplomatic position.

Before taking on this new role, Ambassador Koya was a Barrister and Solicitor and served as the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Biosecurity Fiji. He holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honors and a Diploma in Higher Education in Law from the University of Wolverhampton, which he obtained in 1993, as well as a Certificate in Legal Practice from the University of Tasmania in 1995.

Ambassador Koya has been a member of the High Court of Fiji since 1999, where he has handled numerous cases across various legal areas, including criminal and civil trials, domestic violence, and family law matters.

The commissioning ceremony was also attended by the Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lenora Qereqeretabua, and the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala.
