Fiji Strengthens Squad Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

Two defenders from London have been included in the Bula Boys’ 29-member extended squad for the upcoming matches in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Oceania Qualifiers. Scott Wara, who plays for Stafford Rangers, and Josh Qereqeretabua from Charlton Athletic, both of whom have experience playing for the national team in age-group World Cups, will enhance the team’s defensive strength.

Alongside Wara and Qereqeretabua, other overseas players such as Captain Roy Krishna, Nabil Begg from Auckland, Wellington’s Mohammed Raheem, Sydney-based goalkeeper Jerome Narayan, and midfielder Leroy Jennings from Sydney United are also part of the squad.

Fiji commenced its Qualifiers campaign with a 1-0 victory against the Solomon Islands in Suva on October 10, thanks to a goal from Roy Krishna. The team is scheduled to travel to Papua New Guinea next month to compete against the hosts and New Caledonia in its remaining Group A matches.

In the opening match in Suva, New Caledonia triumphed over Papua New Guinea with a score of 3-1. The Bula Boys, managed by Rob Sherman, will begin their training camp on Sunday, October 29, at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba.
