Fiji Stars Shine Bright in NRL Transfers

Former Fiji Bati international Marcelo Montoya will make his return to the Canterbury Bulldogs after signing a two-year contract. The 28-year-old rejoins his junior club following a successful four-season stint in New Zealand, where he netted 30 tries in 82 games for the Warriors.

Montoya began his rugby journey with Canterbury, playing through the Harold Matthews Cup to the National Youth Competition before making his NRL debut in 2017. Bulldogs General Manager of Football Phil Gould expressed enthusiasm about bringing Montoya back, stating, “It’s always pleasing to bring a local junior back home.” Gould added that Montoya’s passion and versatility in the backline will be significant assets to the team as he embarks on this new chapter.

In another development, the Gold Coast Titans have confirmed that former Fiji Bati prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard will join the club in 2025 on a three-year deal. The 31-year-old, who has played 221 NRL games for Penrith and Parramatta, arrives with a wealth of experience including representing the Blues and Kangaroos.

Titans coach Des Hasler welcomed Campbell-Gillard’s upcoming addition, emphasizing his strong work ethic and consistent performance over the past decade in the NRL.
