Former Fiji U20 and Labasa defender Pawan Singh made a significant impact by scoring a remarkable goal as NZ Nadroga secured a challenging 2-1 victory over Narere/Makoi in their first match of the Rams Group of Companies 10th Sanatan World Cup in Sydney today.

NZ Nadroga started strong with contributions from former Nadroga, Nadi, and Rewa player Jeshal Kumar, along with ex-Suva midfielder Shahil Dave. The team took the lead when striker Akshay Shandil found the back of the net.

Singh followed up with a stunning volley that caught the goalkeeper and defense completely off guard, extending the lead with a second goal for NZ Nadroga. Despite strong performances from Narere/Makoi players like Abhishek Deo, Nischal Lal, and Prashant Chand, who managed to score shortly after Nadroga’s second goal, the Kiwi side held firm.

Narere/Makoi threatened to equalize towards the end of the match, but Singh’s timely intervention and crucial clearance ensured that NZ Nadroga clinched the victory.

In other matches that took place this evening, NZ Ba edged past Uluisila with a narrow 1-0 win, while Sydney Ba and Nakasi ended in a 1-1 draw.
