Pawan Singh, a former defender for Fiji U20 and Labasa, showcased his talent by scoring an impressive goal as NZ Nadroga achieved a 2-1 victory over Narere/Makoi in their opening match of the Rams Group of Companies 10th Sanatan World Cup in Sydney.
NZ Nadroga, which included former Nadroga, Nadi, and Rewa utility player Jeshal Kumar and former Suva midfielder Shahil Dave, started strong by taking the lead with a goal from striker Akshay Shandil. Singh then struck the second goal, skillfully maneuvering past a defender and delivering a volley that surprised both the goalkeeper and the defense.
Narere/Makoi, featuring representatives from Tailevu Naitasiri such as Abhishek Deo, Nischal Lal, and Prashant Chand, managed to score a goal just minutes later. As the match approached its conclusion, they even came close to equalizing, but Singh’s timely clearance ensured that NZ Nadroga secured the win.
In other matches that took place earlier, NZ Ba defeated Uluisila 1-0, while Sydney Ba and Nakasi ended their game in a 1-1 draw.
