More than 3,000 participants took part in the 2023 Fiji Spartan Race, as announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Tourism Minister Viliame Gavoka at the official welcome event for the Fiji Spartan Trifecta week, held at the Aviva Racecourse in Sabeto, Nadi.
Gavoka expressed his excitement, stating that this success reflects not only hard work but also the spirit of unity and determination that characterizes the nation. He highlighted that last year, they welcomed over 3,370 participants, with an impressive 65 percent coming from overseas.
Competitors from more than 20 countries, including Australia and New Zealand, converged on Fiji’s beautiful shores. This global gathering underscores Fiji’s status as a premier destination.
Gavoka also noted the enthusiastic response from the international community, emphasizing that it embodies the collective efforts of the Spartan Race. He reaffirmed their commitment to hosting Spartan Fiji for three consecutive years, recognizing the significant impact it has on the nation.
Last year’s event alone generated an estimated economic impact of about $8 million, providing a notable contribution to the economy, according to Gavoka.
