However, the match took a dramatic turn when Fiji’s Adrea Cocagi was shown a red card, giving Tonga a chance to get back into the game. Tonga seized the opportunity, scoring three consecutive tries as they capitalized on their numerical advantage.
Despite the setback, Fiji managed to extend their lead just before the halftime interval, going into the break with a 26-19 advantage.
