Defending champions Fiji launched their 2024 FANCA Nations Muslim World Cup campaign with an impressive 2-0 victory over Australia in Lautoka. The team, guided by coach Mohammed Ashif Khan, showcased their talent with standout players such as goalkeeper Mohammed Alam, Zibraaz Sahib, and Abbu Zahid. Fiji’s goals came from Suva’s Khan and Ba’s Begg, both scoring in the first half to secure the win.

In another Premier match on the opening day, New Zealand also claimed a 2-0 victory against the United States.

In the Masters Division, Fiji and New Zealand ended their match in a 1-1 draw, while Canada dominated the USA with a decisive 3-0 win. Meanwhile, in the Legends Division, Australia and New Zealand played to a goalless draw, and Canada triumphed over Fiji, finishing 4-1.

This year’s tournament promises excitement as teams showcase their talents on an international stage, and Fiji’s strong start offers a ray of hope for their title defense.
