Fiji Shines Bright: Waste Recyclers Finalist for APCO 2024 Awards!

Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited has been nominated as a finalist for the esteemed 2024 Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) Awards, which will be held in Sydney in November 2024.

The company is competing for the Improved Recycling System Award, highlighting its dedication to sustainability and recycling initiatives. WRFL stands out as a finalist alongside major industry players such as AB Food & Beverages Australia Pty Limited, Circular Plastics Australia (PET), Asahi Beverages, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, and Henkel Australia Pty Ltd.

As the only Fijian nominee and finalist, WRFL’s recognition marks a significant milestone, showcasing the effectiveness of its sustainability efforts over the last thirty years.

Amitesh Deo, the founder of the Pacific Recycling Foundation and Director of WRFL, expressed the company’s enthusiasm regarding the nomination. “It is an incredible honour for us to be recognised alongside some of the largest and most innovative companies in Australia. This nomination is not just a win for WRFL but for all of Fiji. We are proud to represent our nation on such a prestigious platform, showcasing the hard work and dedication we have invested in sustainability over the years,” stated Deo.

He also encouraged Fijians to support the company as it promotes the nation’s sustainability efforts on a global scale. “This is a testament to the progress we have made in recycling and waste management. It is proof that small island nations can make a big impact in the world of sustainability,” he added.
