The FIJI Water Flying Fijians have ended a 17-year wait for victory over Wales, triumphing 24-19 in a thrilling match during their Northern Tour at the Principality Stadium. The Fijian team endured significant challenges, including a red card for winger Semi Radradra, but demonstrated commendable defense and resilience to claim a historic first win in Cardiff.

Initially, the match saw Fiji trailing at halftime with a score of 14-10, following two Welsh tries and the loss of both Radradra and number eight Elia Canakaivata due to penalties. The Welsh side made the most of their opportunities with a penalty try, along with an earlier score from Blair Murray, successfully converted by flyhalf Gareth Anscombe.

Fiji, however, shifted gears in the second half, showcasing a more assertive style of play. Caleb Muntz demonstrated his skill by scoring two successive penalties early in the second half and facilitating a try from inside centre Josua Tuisova around the 60-minute mark, extending Fiji’s lead despite a missed conversion.

Although Wales attempted a comeback with a try from Ellis Bevan in the 65th minute, their efforts were thwarted by Fiji’s steadfast defense, which held strong against mounting pressure. Muntz fortified the Fijian advantage with a penalty in the 75th minute, locking in the victory.

With this defeat, Wales faces an unfortunate streak of 10 consecutive losses, providing an opportunity for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians to celebrate a momentous achievement in international rugby.

In summary, this match exemplifies not only the grit and determination of the Fijian team but also lays the groundwork for future successes in their rugby endeavors. The resolve displayed by the Flying Fijians serves as an inspiration, reminding us that perseverance and teamwork can lead to historic achievements, even in the face of adversity.
