Fiji has achieved its first win at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional A Pacific tournament held in Samoa, rebounding strongly after two initial losses. They secured a convincing 104-run victory over the previously unbeaten Cook Islands, thereby shaking up the competition and keeping the race for the top position alive.
Apete Sokovagone shone as the standout player, scoring 62 runs off 37 balls, which earned him the Man of the Match title. Captain Peni Vuniwaqa contributed a solid 30 runs from 15 balls, bolstering Fiji’s impressive total. The team’s youngest player, 17-year-old Joeli Moala, had a notable performance as well, taking 2 wickets for just 9 runs.
