Fiji Sevens Target Fast Start in Cape Town, Kolinisau Demands Discipline

Fiji Airways Fiji men’s sevens team head coach Osea Kolinisau emphasized the importance of a strong start as they prepare for the Cape Town Sevens tournament in South Africa. Speaking from Cape Town, Kolinisau expressed concerns about the team’s tendency to play catch-up rugby, which he believes they cannot afford if they want to break their losing streak at this year’s event.

The team is set to kick off their Cape Town campaign with a challenging match against the host nation, South Africa, at 10:44 tonight. Given that South Africa will have the home advantage, Kolinisau expects them to deliver a fierce performance right from the start. “They’re playing at home so they’re not going to give up easily; they will throw everything at us especially in the first game,” he stated.

Kolinisau is focused on improving the team’s defense, specifically one-on-one situations, while also stressing the need for discipline and enhanced teamwork. He aims for better communication among players, ensuring that they all understand their roles and responsibilities on the field.

Following the match against South Africa, Fiji will face Great Britain at midnight tonight and New Zealand at 3:48 am tomorrow. The expectations are high as the team seeks to turn their performance around and end the year on a positive note. With determination and a strategic approach, Fiji aims to bring their best game and secure the victories they need.
