Eight talented players from Fiji’s national men’s sevens extended squad have been chosen to represent the Mike Friday Select Sevens team at the upcoming McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s tournament. The selection was made by head coach Osea Kolinisau.
The players comprising the squad are Viliame Naikausa, Rubeni Kabu, Suliano Volivoli, Jope Tikomailepanoni, Iliavi Masori, Sakiusa Siqila, Rauto Vakadranu, and Alipate Biu. They will be joining an impressive lineup that includes notable players such as Jerry Tuwai, former Ireland captain Harry McNulty, USA’s Matai Leuta, and Rosko Specman.
Jay Whyte, chairman of the tournament organizing committee, emphasized that the inclusion of the Mike Friday Select 7s team is a fresh enhancement to the already vibrant tournament atmosphere. The line-up will also feature international players like Luke Treharne from Wales and Alexandre Odinga from France, solidifying the event’s status as a world-class competition in Fiji.
The eight selected players will utilize this tournament as an opportunity to showcase their skills and vie for a spot in the men’s squad for the HSBC SVSN Perth sevens tournament, which is scheduled for January 24-26.
The Coral Coast 7s tournament is set to take place from January 16-18 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, promising an exciting display of talent and competitive spirit.
