Fiji Sevens reshuffles starting lineup after red cards ahead of South Africa clash in Cape Town

Fiji Airways men’s sevens head coach Osea Kolinisau has been compelled to make significant adjustments to his starting lineup for their opening match at the Cape Town Sevens, which kicks off today. The changes come after indiscipline within the team resulted in two red cards during their recent matches.

Players Sakiuasa Silqila and Ilikimi Torosi will miss a few games in Cape Town due to their red cards, with Silqila receiving a three-match ban and Torosi facing a two-match suspension. Kolinisau expressed his disappointment regarding the team’s discipline issues, stating the need for improvement ahead of their crucial match against South Africa. “I was unhappy about getting two red cards, and that’s something that we don’t want,” he remarked.

The absence of Torosi and Silqila presents an opportunity for other members of the squad to step up in their match against the host nation. Kolinisau emphasized that the team will utilize rotation during the game, incorporating those who have been training with the squad to see how well they fit into the team dynamics.

Fiji is set to face South Africa at 10:44 PM tonight, marking the beginning of their campaign at the Cape Town Sevens. The team will be looking to rebound from their recent challenges and demonstrate their potential on the field. Fans will be hopeful that the adjustments made will enhance team performance and lead to a successful start in this tournament.
