The Fiji Airways men’s sevens team has advanced to the semi-finals after a strong showing in their pool matches at the Perth Sevens. The team kicked off their campaign with an impressive 26-10 victory over Argentina, followed by a nail-biting 26-24 win against Spain, securing their place in the next round.

In the match against Spain, Kavekini Tanivanuakula emerged as a standout player. Coming off the bench in the second half, he scored two critical tries to help Fiji come from behind in a fiercely contested battle. Spain made an early impact, scoring in the first minute and widening their lead when Fiji’s Joseva Talacolo received a yellow card for a deliberate knockdown, allowing Jeremy Trevithick to score for Spain.

Fiji quickly responded, with tries from Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Viwa Naduvalo, but a mistake just before halftime allowed Spain to go into the break with a 19-14 advantage. In a dramatic second half, Tanivanuakula leveled the scores with an impressive 80-meter run. Despite Spain scoring again at the end of the match, a failed conversion left Fiji victorious at 26-24.

With this win, the Fiji men’s sevens team has set themselves up for promising matches ahead, demonstrating resilience and determination throughout their encounters. As they look towards the semi-finals, fans are hopeful for another exciting performance.
