Fiji Airways men’s 7s coach Osea Kolinisau has emphasized the competitive nature of the World Rugby Sevens Series, cautioning that every match presents a formidable challenge. This statement follows Fiji’s narrow 22–19 victory against Great Britain in their opening match at the Singapore Sevens, where Viwa Naduvalo’s impressive hat trick of tries proved decisive.

Kolinisau pointed out the diminishing gap between teams in the competition, highlighting that success is now more reliant on consistency, discipline, and execution rather than just team reputation. He stressed the importance of maintaining focus throughout the match, stating, “You can be leading by 15-20 points in the first spell, but if you lose concentration in the second half, the match is gone.” He expressed pride in his team’s ability to stay grounded to achieve their first win.

Looking ahead, Kolinisau is aware of the challenges posed by the remaining pool matches, particularly against teams such as Spain and South Africa. He noted Spain’s unpredictability, especially as they face pressure after their previous loss to South Africa. “It is do-or-die for them against us, and I know they will give their all. And South Africa is never easy to play against,” he remarked, expressing his determination to tackle the upcoming matches head-on.

As the Singapore Sevens reaches its final day, the excitement is building. The women’s semi-finals will kick off at 6:08 PM, followed by the men’s semi-finals at 6:52 PM. The tournament will culminate with the women’s final at 11:05 PM and the men’s final at 11:41 PM. This thrilling conclusion underscores the high stakes and unpredictable nature of the tournament, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
