Fiji’s men’s sevens rugby captain, Jerry Matana, has expressed pride in his team’s resilience following their impressive back-to-back victory at the Singapore 7s on Sunday. Fiji triumphed over France with a score of 21–12 in the final, marking their second consecutive title at this tournament and propelling them to the top of the World Series standings with a total of 52 points.

Matana reflected on the team’s performance, asserting that their ability to respond to previous challenges showcases their growth. “I’m so proud of the boys, and I want to thank them for their hard work and their striving to do after conceding a few points to South Africa and the other teams. We came back; we came back stronger,” he stated.

The Singapore leg remains a significant venue for the Fijians, with Matana acknowledging their fondness for competing there. “Of course, like I said in a press conference, we love playing in Singapore,” he added.

Looking ahead, Fiji will turn their attention to the upcoming tournament in Perth, where they face a challenging group that includes Spain, Argentina, and South Africa. Fans can catch all of Fiji’s matches live on FBC TV, as they aim to build on their recent successes and continue their strong run in the series.
