Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced Fiji’s intention to host the 2031 Pacific Games during the 2023 Fiji Sports Awards at HFC Bank Stadium. He confirmed that the country has officially submitted a proposal to host the regional sporting event through the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC). FASANOC is set to present Fiji’s bid in Palau next month.
Mr. Rabuka emphasized the People’s Coalition Government’s commitment to advancing sports development at all levels. He stated, “We will continue to invest in our athletes, improve our sports infrastructure, and promote inclusivity in sports.” He highlighted the importance of ensuring that all Fijians, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or ability, have opportunities to engage in sports and chase their aspirations.
