Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that Fiji is bidding to host the 2031 Pacific Games.
During his address at the 2023 Fiji Sports Awards held at HFC Bank Stadium, he confirmed that Fiji has officially submitted a request to host the regional athletics event through the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC).
FASANOC is scheduled to present Fiji’s bid in Palau next month.
Mr. Rabuka emphasized that the People’s Coalition Government is dedicated to advancing sports development at all levels, stating, “We will continue to invest in our athletes, improve our sports infrastructure, and promote inclusivity in sports.”
He acknowledged the importance of providing opportunities for all Fijians, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or ability, to engage in sports and pursue their aspirations.
