Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced Fiji’s bid to host the 2031 Pacific Games during the 2023 Fiji Sports Awards at HFC Bank Stadium. He confirmed that Fiji has officially submitted a proposal to host the regional athletic event through the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC). In addition, he mentioned that FASANOC is set to present Fiji’s bid in Palau next month.
Mr. Rabuka emphasized that the People’s Coalition Government is committed to enhancing sports development at all levels. He stated, “We will continue to invest in our athletes, improve our sports infrastructure, and promote inclusivity in sports.” He highlighted the significance of providing opportunities for all Fijians, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or ability, to engage in sports and realize their aspirations.
