Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced Fiji’s intention to host the 2031 Pacific Games during the 2023 Fiji Sports Awards held at HFC Bank Stadium. He revealed that Fiji has formally submitted a bid to host the regional athletics event through the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committees (FASANOC). FASANOC is set to present Fiji’s bid in Palau next month.
Mr. Rabuka emphasized the People’s Coalition Government’s ongoing dedication to enhancing sports development across all levels. He stated, “We will continue to invest in our athletes, improve our sports infrastructure, and promote inclusivity in sports.” He acknowledged the significance of creating opportunities for all Fijians, irrespective of gender, ethnicity, or ability, to engage in sports and realize their aspirations.
