Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced Fiji’s candidacy to host the 2031 Pacific Games during the 2023 Fiji Sports Awards held at HFC Bank Stadium. He revealed that Fiji has formally submitted a proposal to host the regional athletic event through the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC).
Rabuka mentioned that FASANOC is set to present Fiji’s bid in Palau next month. He emphasized the People’s Coalition Government’s commitment to sports development across all levels in the country.
“We will continue to invest in our athletes, enhance our sports infrastructure, and promote inclusivity in sports,” he stated. Rabuka also highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for all Fijians, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or ability, to engage in sports and chase their aspirations.
