A Norwegian cruise liner is set to enter Fiji waters in March next year, marking a new partnership with Fiji Airways. The national airline is expanding its services to include the cruise ship sector by collaborating with international cruise operators to enhance its air routes.
Fiji Airways’ CEO, Andre Viljoen, announced that the Norwegian cruise liner will embark from the United States, stop in Cairns, Australia, and then continue to Fiji. During his address at the Fiji Tourism Convention 2024 held at Denarau, Nadi, he outlined the cruise’s itinerary, which will include several island destinations in Fiji such as Savusavu, Taveuni, and Kadavu before heading to Tahiti and returning to Cairns.
“We will be bringing Americans on the Norwegian liner from Cairns to Fiji,” Viljoen stated, indicating that Cairns is a key part of their plans for the upcoming year. He also warned hoteliers about the impending competition from cruise tourism.
In addition to the Norwegian cruise liner, Viljoen mentioned that other international cruise lines, including Crystal Cruises, Silversea, Paul Gauguin Cruises, and Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours, are also being considered for future partnerships.
