Fiji has been chosen to host the World Health Organization’s 76th Regional Committee Meeting for the Western Pacific Region in 2025. The Regional Committee serves as the WHO’s governing body in this region and includes representatives from thirty-seven member states and areas, along with Associate Members.
The committee convenes annually to develop policies, oversee regional programs, review progress reports, and evaluate new initiatives. It is responsible for adopting resolutions and making key decisions that direct the operations of the Regional Office and country offices for the following year. This event will mark the first time an independent Pacific Island nation hosts a WHO Regional Committee Meeting.
