Fiji’s tourism sector has exceeded expectations, with the country welcoming a record 929,740 visitors last year, contributing $3.3 billion to the economy. At the Fiji Tourism Convention in Nadi, Tourism Minister Viliame Gavoka highlighted that this performance marked a 4 percent increase from pre-pandemic levels, indicating that the tourism industry in Fiji is not only recovering but is also becoming stronger than before.
So far this year, from January to August, Fiji has received 640,274 visitors and is on track to reach the milestone of 1 million visitors by the end of 2024. Gavoka attributed this potential growth to ongoing efforts in marketing, enhancing air connectivity, advancing infrastructure, and a strong dedication to sustainable tourism practices.
