Prince Charles Park is set to welcome the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator and chairperson of the Nadi Town Council, stated that the park is receiving its final preparations for the event.
Raiwalui emphasized that this concert will introduce a new element to events in Nadi. “This show will provide a unique experience, reflecting the sound of the Pacific and the spirit of Fiji,” he remarked. He noted that while the event organizers will cover the expenses at Prince Charles Park, the council will manage the parking facilities, with plans to utilize Koroivolu Park for additional space.
The concert represents a significant milestone for Mr. Veikoso, marking his return home after 40 years of promoting Pacific music worldwide. He expressed that this homecoming is more than just a performance. “It’s a celebration of our roots, our culture, and the music that binds us,” he said. “After four decades of sharing the spirit of Fiji and the Pacific globally, it’s time to complete this journey by returning home and sharing my life’s work alongside remarkable artists like J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi.”
Mr. Veikoso expressed his excitement to celebrate not just his own return, but also the unifying power of music that inspires communities. “This event pays tribute to our shared heritage, and I’m eager to engage in this unforgettable night with all of you,” he added.
A representative from Tourism Fiji shared their enthusiasm for the concert, stating, “We’re excited about George Fiji Veikoso’s Home Coming Concert. It not only honors his tremendous talent but also highlights Fiji’s vibrant musical scene.” They emphasized that such events are vital for the local economy and community spirit, as well as for showcasing Fiji’s rich culture and hospitality to international visitors.
Ticket prices for the concert range from $79 to $999 for VIP access. Local artist and aviator Big Wilz expressed his support, stating, “I’m willing to pay to see Pojie, Josh, and Maoli perform. I appreciate that they are bringing their talents here without major business sponsorship, relying on their hard work.” He also credited Mr. Veikoso for his role as a representative of Fijian music. “It’s going to be epic. If you can make it, do come; if not, don’t worry. See you in Nadi.”
The concert is scheduled for September 14-15.
