Fiji’s tourism sector achieved a significant milestone in 2025, welcoming a record-breaking 986,367 visitors, surpassing last year’s total of 982,938, as reported by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics. This achievement underscores the resilience and appeal of Fiji as a preferred holiday destination post-pandemic.

August stood out as the most popular month for travel to Fiji, with 99,737 arrivals, which accounted for 10.1 percent of the annual visitor count. Following closely were July and June, with 99,311 and 92,693 arrivals, respectively—showcasing robust demand during the peak travel season.

The primary sources of visitors to Fiji remained Australia and New Zealand, with Australia sending the highest number at 452,422 visitors, or 45.9 percent of the total. New Zealand followed with a significant contribution of 219,301 visitors, equating to 22.2 percent of arrivals. This indicates a steady flow of approximately 1,239 daily visitors from Australia and around 600 from New Zealand.

Predominantly, tourists flocked to Fiji for leisure, with 779,447 travelers—79.0 percent of arrivals—indicating vacation as their primary purpose for visiting. Additionally, 80,871 visitors, representing 8.2 percent, came to reconnect with friends and family, while 21,513 (2.2 percent) traveled for business, and 103,320 (10.6 percent) cited other reasons for their visit.

This thriving tourism landscape bodes well for Fiji’s economy and highlights the island nation’s appeal as a top holiday destination in the Pacific. The strong numbers suggest a positive trend for the tourism sector, reinforcing the importance of ongoing investments in hospitality and infrastructure to cater to the increasing number of visitors.
