Fiji Security Partners Acknowledged for Peacekeeping Efforts

The Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIPF) Commissioner Mostyn Mangau has expressed gratitude for the collaboration with Fiji security partners in maintaining peace and security during the Solomon Islands General Elections.

Commissioner Mangau extended the RSIPF’s appreciation to Fiji Police’s Assistant Commissioner of Police Livai Driu, who visited the RSIPF on behalf of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Commander and the Acting Commissioner of Police. He was accompanied by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Simione Tamanisau, the leader of the FPF contingent.

Commissioner Mangau praised the efforts of their Fijian colleagues in both reactive and proactive policing, emphasizing the mutual respect and understanding shared as Melanesian brothers and sisters.

He highlighted that through the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Policing, police-to-police engagements have significantly increased, enhancing the networking between law enforcement, including the RSIPF, FPF, and Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

The RSIPF head noted the positive outcomes of community-based programs organized by the Solomon Islands International Assistance Force (SIAF), stating that the RSIPF’s community policing efforts will now align with best practices demonstrated by their comrades.

ACP Driu reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to supporting their Solomon Islands counterparts, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and partnerships.

Twenty police officers were deployed under the joint Cori Mada 3 Task Force, led by the Republic of Fiji Military Force, to assist with peace and security operations before and after the election period.
