Fiji Secures Major Funding for Bridge Resilience Project

The Fijian Cabinet has approved loan and grant agreements with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as part of the Fiji Critical Bridges Resilience Project. This initiative will provide a total funding of USD 134.5 million (around FJD 304.4 million). The financing breakdown includes USD 120 million (about FJD 271.6 million) in concessional loans and USD 14.5 million (approximately FJD 32.8 million) in grant funding.

The Fiji Roads Authority has identified four bridges that are set to be replaced under this significant project, which aims to enhance the infrastructure resilience in the region. The project is expected to be completed by 2031.

This initiative not only signifies a substantial investment in Fiji’s infrastructure but also highlights the commitment to improving transportation and connectivity. By modernizing these critical bridges, Fiji is poised to facilitate better movement for its citizens and contribute to economic growth.
